About Us

It all started with a vision to make a difference and give back to society. Established in 2019, Pad A Girl is an organization that aims to assist disadvantage young girls with sanitary pads. The sad reality in many of our poor communities is that due to the lack of affordability of sanitary pads, young girls find themselves unable to attend school when on their periods. Those who persevere and attend school regardless of their difficult situations often resort to alternative measures which are unhygienic, and which pose serious dangers to their health. Consequently, this impairs their level of concentration while at school and hampers their academic performance.

Following its establishment, the Pad a Girl team has since expanded its scope of intervention; particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic. Such expansion entails providing sanitary pads not only to schools, but also to orphanages and within informal settlement communities.In addition, the Pad a Girl team has also delivered food parcels and toiletries to residents of various communities in dire need of such assistance.

Our objectives

To assist disadvantaged school girls and orphanages with sanitary pads;

To assist disadvantaged scholars with toiletries and school related needs.

To provide food parcels to communities in need; and

To formulate partnerships with relevant stakeholders (Dep. of Basic Education, Social Development etc.)

What we do

On a quarterly basis (every 3 months), The Pad a Girl Team buys and collects sanitary pads from various sources including friends, family and various individual donors etc.
These sanitary pads are then distributed to schools and orphanages in need around the Gauteng Province and Eastern Cape Province. PAGC has recently announced launching a new team in KZN as of 01 October 2023.
